Introdução / Introduction

     Eu sou advogada e tradutora, e sou casada com um escritor e poeta inglês. A finalidade primária desse blog é escrever sobre gramática inglesa e portuguesa, assuntos relacionados a traduções, assim como hobbies, interesses pessoais e assuntos que eu acho que os leitores irão gostar. Espero informar assim como entreter os leitores. A maioria dos posts relacionados à lingua são direcionados aos iniciantes e intermediários quanto aos conhecimentos da lingua portuguesa e a inglesa, mas as pessoas possuidoras de conhecimentos avançados também poderão apreciá-los.

     Eu moro em brasília, e para fugir do tédio eu tenho alguns hobbies. Eu gosto de ler livros de fantasia, filosofia, psicologia, espiritualidade, mistéro e sobre conhecimentos aleatórios. Alguns de meus autores favoritos são: Tolkien, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Saint Exupéry, Agatha Christie, Carl Jung e Dante Alighieri. Além disso, eu gosto de ouvir música clássica, eletrônica, new age e mundial. Talvez algum dia eu volte a tocar piano e saxofone, mas por enquanto eu gosto de criar minhas próprias músicas eletronicas no meu computador, e o meu marido sabe tocar percussões do oriente muito bem. Ele está tentando me convencer a gravar algumas músicas. Talvez um dia a gente crie algo interessante.

     Com a colaboração do meu esposo eu traduzirei alguns trechos de literatura que ainda não foram traduzidos para o português - ele é praticamente uma wikipedia ambulante então aproveitarei isso. Ele participará de vez em quando também e eu traduzirei os posts dele, mas mal posso esperar que ele aprenda português e não precise mais da minha ajuda. :b

I am a lawyer and translator, married to an English writer and poet. The primary purpose of this blog is to write about English and Portuguese grammar and translation issues, but I will also be posting on literature in Portuguese and English, personal hobbies and interests, and whatever I think readers might enjoy. I'm hoping to inform and sometimes entertain readers. Many posts regarding language will be aimed particularly at novice and intermediate level English and Portuguese learners, but I'm also intending to post plenty of material that will be of interest to advanced speakers of both languages.

I live in Brasilia, and to escape the boredom I have a variety of hobbies. I like to read fantasy, philosophy, psychology, spiritual, mystery and random knowledge books, mostly in English. Some of my favorite authors are: Tolkien, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Saint Exupéry, Agatha Christie, Carl Jung and Dante Alighieri. I also like to listen to electronic, new age, world and classical music. Some day, I may go back to playing piano and saxophone, but in the meantime I enjoy creating electronic music on my computer, and my husband, who plays drums and Eastern percussion, is constantly trying to persuade me to collaborate with him on various recording ideas he has. Perhaps one day I'll give in to his importuning and we will actually end up producing some awesome music together - watch this space for updates!

With assistance from the aforementioned spouse, I'll be translating snippets of literature from English to Portuguese and vice versa; he's pretty much a walking Wikipedia so I'll take advantage of that. He will join in once in a while too and I'll translate his posts, but I can't wait till his Portuguese is good enough that he doesn't require my assistance. :b
